Nikodem Stręk

Nikodem was born on December 3, 2021, and has struggled with many problems since birth. The main underlying problem is SLOS, but also chronic renal failure (kidneys that are too small and not fully developed). Due to the lack of a sucking reflex, he was initially fed with a feeding tube, later a peg was placed. He is undergoing speech therapy, but his mouth only accepts small amounts of food. Nikos was born with bilateral hip dislocations, which were operated on, but the dislocation recurred shortly after the surgery. He also had foot surgery because he was born with abnormally shaped feet. He had an extra sixth toe on his left hand, which has since been removed, and he also has fused second and third toes on both feet. Our son has a small head, a submucous cleft palate, a gothic palate, and a vision defect. He constantly vomits, was diagnosed with severe reflux, and is gaining very little weight. He also has urological problems, including necrosis, hypospadias, and diagnosed scoliosis and arthrogryposis. He’s generally a cheerful boy, but despite being four years old, he doesn’t sit up independently, doesn’t walk, doesn’t speak, only a few syllables, and has trouble sleeping.

Nikos is under the care of numerous specialist clinics and attends numerous general developmental therapies. We also attend rehabilitation sessions. We believe that all of this will improve his quality of life and bring results.
